About Afaxys

  • Every year, more than 31 million Americans rely on community and public health (government-funded) centers to get essential care. Yet, in a changing and uncertain healthcare environment, many of these providers struggle to serve these patients because they can’t reliably access the cost-effective products they need. Afaxys is uniquely focused on serving these providers and their patients.
  • Afaxys was established as a first-of-its-kind healthcare company in 2008. Designed to solve a public health crisis at the time, we uniquely partner with community and public healthcare providers to ensure reliable access to affordable, quality, FDA-approved products and services they need to care for their patients seeking reproductive and sexual healthcare.

Afaxys is uniquely dedicated to serving community and public health providers and their patients. We believe that affordable access to sexual and reproductive healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. The Afaxys family of companies and products includes two operational subsidiaries, Afaxys Pharma and Afaxys Group Services. These entities enable us to offer a unique mix of products and services.

  • At Afaxys, we are passionate about our mission to help those in society who need us most. We are guided by the belief that affordable access to sexual and reproductive healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.
  • Mission-driven is our brand promise. It means that every decision we make is focused on better serving our customers – community and public health (government-funded) providers and their patients – so that all patients can access the care they need regardless of where they live or their socioeconomic status.
  • While Afaxys includes several companies, it has two main businesses that operate as wholly owned subsidiaries, including: Afaxys Pharma and Afaxys Group Services.
  • Afaxys Pharma provides a broad portfolio of branded and generic contraceptives to the community and public healthcare market. Afaxys Drug Development supports Afaxys Pharma, developing hard-to-acquire drugs and drugs with new administration, then applying for NDAs and ANDAs in the sexual and reproductive health category.
  • Afaxys Group Services is a strategic sourcing operation that negotiates favorable pricing across a broad base of products and services through its Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and emapp®, a user-friendly, cloud-based emarketplace and purchasing portal.

“Afaxys” stems from our mission – affordable access, it is a combination of those two words.

We are a small healthcare company (<50 employees). Although Afaxys isn’t a big healthcare company, we have an immense impact on the sexual and reproductive healthcare market. We’re proud to have grown to more than 40 employees in 2021, and we continue to expand.

We’re proud to partner with community and public health providers to make a difference in the lives of their patients. Since 2015, Afaxys Pharma has been a leading provider of oral and emergency contraceptives in U.S. health centers*, and has distributed more than 22 million months of contraception. Today, Afaxys Pharma serves more than 10,000 health centers nationwide. Our GPO serves more than 6,000 health center locations nationwide and has collectively saved our members millions of dollars.

About Afaxys Group Services

Afaxys Group Services is a strategic sourcing operation that negotiates favorable pricing across a broad base of products and services through its Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) and emapp®, a user-friendly, cloud-based emarketplace and purchasing portal.

GPO is short for Group Purchasing Organization. A GPO leverages the purchasing power of a group of businesses, in order to obtain discounts from suppliers on the collective buying power of its members. We connect members to affordable options for cost-effective patient care through the Afaxys GPO. Watch our video to learn more about how a GPO works.

We built our GPO by listening to the needs of the public health sector. Our strategic sourcing operation was created exclusively for community and public health providers to offer access to quality products at a much lower cost, regardless of purchase volume. All of our members, regardless of size or purchase volume, have access to best-in-class suppliers and service providers.

emapp® is a cloud-based purchasing and procurement platform, designed just for the healthcare community to address complex supply chain needs by connecting providers to their preferred suppliers. It’s a unique, feature-rich yet user-friendly portal that connects a provider’s existing systems to a marketplace of Afaxys GPO suppliers. emapp also facilitates order submissions and confirmations so providers can easily track their orders. Watch our video to learn more about how emapp can make it easier for you to track spending and save money.
