In our new podcast series, “Candid Conversations in Public Health,” available on multiple channels including Spotify and Apple Podcasts, we’re taking listeners to the front lines of sexual and reproductive healthcare, providing resources, fresh perspectives, and real-world insights into the everyday challenges of public health.

In each episode, we’ll talk with experts on impactful topics that are often overlooked, ranging from social media trends shaping women’s health, to the pitfalls and opportunities in the future of telehealth, to gaps in care in sexually transmitted infections (STI) and women’s healthcare and the emerging research working to address them, and more.

Together we’ll listen, we’ll learn, and we’ll elevate voices across our field to provide you with news you can use in real-time to improve patient care.

Our first conversation, hosted by longtime public health champion Elizabeth Attias, Sc.D., focuses on the resurgence of syphilis – a once nearly eradicated STI that has recently resurfaced. We dive into what is causing the increase, where gaps in care remain, and how the public health community is working to address the challenge.

The conversation includes leaders from the Clinical Training Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health (CTCSRH), an organization dedicated to serving the nation’s Title X workforce and training over 3,000 Title X clinical service providers annually. Featured guests include:

  • Kristen Feldman, MD, FACOG, BCMAS, Vice President of Medical Affairs, Afaxys
  • Tammy Bennett, DNP, WHNP-BC, Associate Director of Clinical Training, CTCSRH
  • Kristin Metcalf-Wilson, DNP, WHNP-BC, Project Director, CTCSRH; Assistant Research Professor, UMKC School of Nursing & Health Studies
